Prof Peter Hoffman Joining Colditz Wachkompanie in 1942 as a private first class, he was one of around 150 prison guards that manned the guardroom, gates, towers etc. After the liberation in 1945 he surrendered and was captured and spent until July 1949 as a Russian PoW, eventually returning to his home town of Dresden.
