Lieutenant Roylance Wooldridge MC* A Royal Engineer, Roylance Wooldridge won his first MC at El Alamein. Subsequently he led a two man team landing secretly on May 18th in Operation Tarbrush to identify an unknown type of mine defence and devise counter measures. He was captured and, remarkably, was interrogated by Field Marshal Erwin Rommel.
